Wind generator syndrome: scientists warn that windmills are dangerous to health

Wind generators have become one of the symbols of alternative energy, which, along with solar panels, inspired hope for a bright green future for mankind. In recent decades, significant changes have taken place in the production and installation of wind generators. Industrialized countries of Europe, striving to reduce their “contribution” to raising the level of greenhouse gases, by all means stimulate the installation of new power plants operating from wind energy. But today enough information has already been accumulated that allows us to conclude that wind generators, although useful for the environment, are dangerous for the health of people living nearby.

The term "wind generator syndrome" was first coined by the American physician Nina Pierpont, although it is not recognized as an official medical science. The woman monitored patients from around the world who lived near wind generators and complained of poor health after the appearance of noisy turbines. The data she has accumulated over several years of research have served as the basis for scientific work and writing a book. According to Nina Pierpont, wind generators can affect the well-being of many people who are constantly nearby, and the main problems are caused by the noise impact of working turbines.

The negative impact comes not only from the noise heard by a person, but also from low-frequency oscillations, which are perceptible only with the help of devices. Nevertheless, such fluctuations still affect our human ear. When systematically exposed, they can lead to health problems. First of all, according to the scientist, the vestibular apparatus suffers, disturbances in the work of which lead to the appearance of "wind generator syndrome". This unpleasant disease manifests itself in the form of headaches, tinnitus and dizziness. Well, with prolonged exposure, constant low-frequency noise provokes sleep disturbance, memory impairment, tachycardia and even panic attacks.

Recall that official medicine has so far refused to accept the arguments of Nina Pierpont. Critics of her work indicate an insufficient amount of data, and also require additional research on this topic. At the same time, the American doctor is not the only one who drew attention to the discomfort created by the work of wind generators. For example, a number of researchers have noted the disappearance of birds and land animals near power plants with windmills, which can be explained by discomfort from the operation of turbines. And Japanese scientists have fixed symptoms resembling "wind generator syndrome" in people who are in the zone of influence of a new wind power installation. The malaise was not recorded in all residents of nearby houses, but it is noted that people older than 50 were most affected.

From the foregoing, it can be assumed that the euphoria from the installation of new wind generators saving the planet could soon be replaced by wariness and active rejection by society. It is possible that new studies will confirm the discovered negative effect, and energy company engineers will have to look for ways to eliminate the adverse effects of low-frequency noise.
